Psychological therapy involves you and your therapist building up a safe and trusting relationship
in which you can talk about your difficulties. The sessions provide you with an opportunity
to explore your current situation, often in light of previous experiences, and also aim to provide you
with greater insight into your behaviour and relationships. In this sense therapy is not a ‘repair shop’,
nor can therapy provide you with a ‘cure’; rather it is a process that aims to help you develop more helpful,
adaptive ways of being that enable you to manage your life differently.
I have been trained in a number of therapeutic approaches that have different emphases in working
with psychological difficulty. The main approaches that I offer are listed below. During the initial
consultation we can discuss the various options and decide on what will be the most helpful one for you.
